Just about a week ago, an hour-and-a-half of nirgun bhajans at a quiet function in the Capital marked the passage of two year since Surendra Pratap Singh was removed from the midst of his family and friends by a cerebral stroke. At the India International Centre(IIC), people driven by diverse persuasions and with varying backgrounds gathered, drawn by a common chord that SP Singh represented to all of them.    Surendra Pratap Singh  Surendra Pratap Singh, also referred to as S.P. Singh . He was a founder and editor of an influential Hindi-language weekly newspaper Ravivar in the 1970s and 1980s  and, in the 1990s, he was the founder and anchor of the Hindi-language news bulletin Aaj Tak, which first appeared on public television before it became an independent, Hindi-language television news channel. Career  In 1962, SP Singh passed matriculation in second division from Garulia Mill High School West bengal then completed masters in Hindi from Calcutta University in first division and law graduate from Surendranath College. He was associated with AISF for a short time and was also the editor of the Union's magazine. His first job was as a Hindi lecturer at Surendranath college, Barrackpore.   - एसपी सिंह के बाद की टीवी पत्रकारिता 16 जून 1997। सुबह का समय। सुरेंद्र प्रताप सिंह अचानक घर पर गिर पड़े। दोपहर होते होते पता चला कि ये साधारण बेहोशी नहीं थी। कोमा में थे एसपी। ब्रेन हेमरेज हो गया था। एसपी अपने जीवन के चौथे दशक में ही थे। 27 जून को अपोलो अस्पताल के डॉक्टरों ने उन्हें मृत घोषित कर दिया। दिल्ली के लोदी रोड शवदाह गृह में उनके भतीजे और पत्रकार चंदन प्रताप सिंह ने शव को मुखाग्नि दी। ग्यारह साल  बाद आज पत्रकारिता, खासकर हिंदी टीवी न्यूज पत्रकारिता एक रोचक दौर में है। भारत में टीवी पत्रकारिता में मॉडर्निटी की शुरुआत आप एसपी के  आज तक  से मान सकते हैं। जिन लोगों ने एसपी का काम देखा है, या सुना है, या उनसे जुड़ी किसी चर्चा में शामिल हुए हैं, या उनके बारे में कोई राय रखते हैं, उनकी और बाकी सभी की प्रतिक्रियाएं आमंत्रित हैं। ये एस पी को श्रद्धांजलि देने का समय नहीं है। इसकी जरूरत भी नहीं है। एसपी मठ तोड़ने के हिमायती थे। ये क्या कम आश्चर्य की बात है कि एसपी के लगभग पांच सौ या उससे भी ज्यादा लेख और इंटरव्यू यहां-वहां बिखरे हैं, लेकिन उनका संकलन अब तक नहीं छप ...
